The Skill for Life package costs £139 and comprises Associate Membership of a local IAM Group to help prepare for the IAM Test, the relevant IAM manual, the IAM Test Fee itself, and your first years membership of the IAM after passing the test.
This package is valid for up to 12 months after purchase (and can be extended further upon application).

Penalty Points
Anyone can join the Group, regardless of the number of points they may have on their licence. The observed drives will be of value if they prevent you from getting any more.
You can normally only take the Advanced Driving Test if you have 6 or less points. 7 or 8 points will be reviewed on its merits by the Chief Examiner. 9 or more points and you will usually not be allowed to take the test.
New drivers with 3 or more points will be reviewed by the Chief Examiner. A new driver with 6 points in the first 2 years will not be allowed to take the test.
